Let me help you with the definition of Generative Engine Optimisation.
So it is as follows.
GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimisation, which is the process of optimising your website’s content to increase its visibility and likelihood of citation within AI-driven search and answer engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, and Google AI Mode.
The best way for me to explain this is by breaking it into two sections.
The first section is On-Page Generative Engine Optimisation. This relates to how you structure and enhance your content on your own website. Where relevant, this involves implementing the following eleven key factors.
These include citation addition, quotation addition, statistic addition, ease of use, easy-to-understand content, fluency, authority signals, technical terms and unique language, schema markup, author bios, source diversity, and recency.
The second section is Off-Page Generative Engine Optimisation. This focuses on achieving third-party mentions, which typically means authoritative organisations referencing your company and linking back to your website.
In essence, when all of these elements are applied together, they create effective and well-rounded generative engine optimisation.
If you would like more information on how to apply GEO to your own website, you can click the link in the description below. That will take you to our website, where we provide a GEO Skills Hub as well as AI platform optimisation guides.
When these technical and content-based implementations are applied correctly, you significantly improve your chances of being selected and cited across the major AI platforms.
If you have any additional questions about the definition of generative engine optimisation, please leave them in the comments section below and I’ll do my best to get back to you as soon as possible.
I hope this has been helpful, and as always, I look forward to seeing you in the next one.
Thank you very much. Bye-bye.
